What we collect

When you use BeardLog we receive the photo you upload, the area (region of interest) you trace on it, the detector settings you choose, and the resulting hair count. If you save a tracked photo, we store that image and its count so it can appear in your month-over-month record.

When you create an account, we also store your email address, a salted password verifier (not your password), and an expiring login session. We do not collect payment information in this early-access build.

How your photo is processed

Detection runs server-side: your photo is uploaded over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our server, analyzed with our computer-vision detector, and the result is sent back to your browser. It does not stay only on your device — be aware of that before uploading anything you'd rather keep fully local.

Retention

Photos that are not attached to an account are used only to compute your count and scheduled for automatic deletion after 24 hours. On the free hosting tier, a sleeping service completes that cleanup when it next wakes. Account photos are kept so your progress chart keeps working, and are never used to train models or for any purpose beyond serving the app back to you.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your photos or counts with third parties. We may use bare-bones, privacy-respecting infrastructure providers (hosting, error logging) strictly to run the service.

Your choices

• Don't upload a photo you're not comfortable sending to a server for processing.
• Tracked photos can be deleted at any time from the Track section of the app.
• Log out on shared devices; account sessions otherwise expire after 30 days.
• Contact us to request deletion of any data associated with your use of BeardLog.
